Removal and Installation

NOTE: If a heater core leak is suspected, the heater core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle. Component Tests and General Diagnostics

All vehicles

1. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing. For additional information, refer to Heater Core And Evaporator Core Housing Service and Repair.

2. Remove the heater tube dash panel seal.

3. Remove the heater core bracket screw.

Vehicles with electric auxiliary heater

4. Disconnect the electric auxiliary heater battery cable connectors from the auxiliary heater.

5. Detach the electric auxiliary heater battery cables from the evaporator core cover.

6. Detach the electric auxiliary heater battery cable pin-type retainer from the air inlet duct.

All vehicles

7. Remove the 2 heater tube bracket screws.

8. Remove the 3 air inlet duct screws and position the air inlet duct aside.

9. Remove the 6 evaporator core cover screws and the evaporator core cover.

Vehicles with electric auxiliary heater

10. Remove the 2 heater core cover screws and the heater core cover.

All vehicles

11. Remove the heater core bracket.

12. Remove the heater core.

13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
