Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Removal and Installation

NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.

NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

1. Depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures of Air Bag Systems.

2. Remove the clip and recline handle.

3. Remove the seat control switch knob.

4. Remove the screw at the rear of the cushion side shield. Pull out on the side of the cushion side shield, release the retaining clips and pin-type retainer and separate the side shield.

5. Disconnect the seat control switch.

6. Release the retainers and remove the seat control switch from the cushion side shield.

7. NOTE: Inspect the cushion side shield retaining clips for damage. Install new retainers if damage is present.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

8. Repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures of Air Bag Systems.
