PINPOINT TEST A: SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM DOES NOT RELEASE/LOCK CORRECTLY

A1 TEST FUSE 32 (5A)


- Ignition OFF.
- Check fuse: 32 (5A).
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to A3.

No
GO to A2.

A2 TEST CIRCUIT SBP32 (VT/RD) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND


- Ignition OFF.
- Remove fuse 32 (5A).
- Disconnect: Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch C278.
- Measure the resistance between BPP switch C278-3, circuit SBP32 (VT/RD), harness side and ground.




- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
GO to A3.

No
REPAIR circuit SBP32 (VT/RD) for a short to ground. TEST the system for normal operation.

A3 TEST CIRCUIT SBP32 (VT/RD) FOR AN OPEN


- Disconnect: Smart Junction Box (SJB) C2280B.
- Measure the resistance between SJB C2280B-28 and BPP switch C278-3, circuit SBP32 (VT/RD), harness side.




- Is resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to A4.

No
REPAIR circuit SBP32 (VT/RD) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

A4 TEST THE BPP SWITCH


- Measure the resistance between BPP switch C278-3 and C278-4, component side while applying (ON) and releasing (OFF) the brake pedal.




- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms with the BPP switch applied and greater than 10,000 ohms with the BPP switch released?

Yes
GO to A5.

No
INSTALL a new BPP switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

A5 TEST CIRCUIT CCB15 (BN/GN) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND


- Disconnect: Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA) C2008.
- Disconnect: PCM C175B.
- Disconnect: ABS C135.
- Disconnect: Speed Controller C122.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280D.
- Disconnect: 4X4 Control Module C281A (if equipped).
- Measure the resistance between BSIA C2008-3, circuit CCB15 (BN/GN) and ground.




- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
GO to A6.

No
REPAIR circuit CCB15 (BN/GN) for a short to ground. TEST the system for normal operation.

A6 TEST CIRCUIT CCB15 (BN/GN) FOR AN OPEN


- Measure the resistance between BSIA switch C2008-3 and BPP, circuit CCB15 (BN/GN), harness side.




- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to A7.

No
REPAIR circuit CCB15 (BN/GN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

A7 TEST CIRCUIT CDC58 (YE/GN) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND


- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Measure the resistance between BSIA C2008-1, circuit CDC58 (YE/GN), harness side and ground.




- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
GO to A8.

No
REPAIR circuit CDC58 (YE/GN) for a short to ground. TEST the system for normal operation.

A8 TEST CIRCUIT CDC58 (YE/GN) FOR AN OPEN


- Measure the resistance between BSIA C2008-1 and C250-13, circuit CDC58 (YE/GN), harness side.




- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to A9.

No
REPAIR circuit CDC58 (YE/GN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

A9 TEST CIRCUIT GD161 (BK/YE) FOR AN OPEN


- Measure the resistance between BSIA C2008-2, circuit GD161 (BK/YE), harness side and ground.




- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
INSTALL a new BSIA. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR circuit GD161 (BK/YE) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
