Removal

NOTE: Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) procedure shown, Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) similar. The front driveshaft must be removed.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

2. NOTE: To maintain initial driveshaft balance, mark the rear driveshaft yoke and axle flange so they can be installed in their original alignment.

Mark the rear driveshaft.





3. Remove the 4 rear driveshaft bolts.

4. NOTE: Do not use a hammer.

Remove the rear driveshaft from the flange using a pry bar.





5. Remove the insulator nuts.

6. Raise and support the transmission.

7. Remove the insulator screws.

8. Remove the insulator.

Installation

1. Position the insulator on the extension housing.

2. Install the insulator-to-extension housing screws.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

3. Install the insulator into the crossmember and tighten the nuts.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

4. NOTE: Align the driveshaft with the marks made during removal to make sure of correct balance.

Align and install the rear driveshaft.





5. With the marks aligned, install the rear driveshaft and bolts.
- Tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
