Power Running Board (PRB) Bracket

NOTE: Mountaineer shown, Explorer similar.

Removal and Installation

NOTE: The Power Running Board (PRB) motor and bracket assemblies cannot be serviced individually. The complete motor and bracket assembly and linkage must be serviced as a unit.

Explorer only

1. Remove the PRB gap hider. For additional information, refer to Power Running Board (PRB) Gap Hider Power Running Board (PRB) Gap Hider.

Mountaineer only

2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

3. NOTE: If the PRB cannot be extracted, extend the running board by hand.

Extend the retractable running board.

All vehicles

4. Remove the PRB step. For additional information, refer to Power Running Board (PRB) Step Power Running Board (PRB) Step.

5. NOTE: An assistant is required to hold the PRB motor and bracket assembly before removing the lower bolts.

Remove the PRB front bracket lower 2 nuts and bolt.
- To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).





6. Remove the PRB rear bracket lower 2 nuts and bolt.
- To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).





7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
