Removal and Installation









1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

3. Disconnect the block heater power cable.

4. NOTE: Do not loosen the block heater retaining screw more than necessary for removal.

Loosen the screw and remove the block heater.

- To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).

5. Clean and inspect the engine block mating surface. Lubricate the block heater seal and the cylinder block hole with clean engine coolant.

6. NOTICE: Make sure the power cable is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components or the cable may be damaged.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
