Engine Control Components - Exploded View

Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor

NOTE: The upper fan shroud must be removed to perform this procedure. For additional information, refer to Engine Cooling - Diesel Engine Service and Repair.

NOTE: Lubricate the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor O-ring seal with clean engine oil prior to installation.

Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor

NOTE: The red locking tab on the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector must be released prior to disconnecting the CKP sensor. Engage the red locking tab after connecting the CKP sensor electrical connector.

NOTE: Lubricate the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor O-ring seal with clean engine oil prior to installation.

Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor and Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch

NOTE: Apply thread sealant to the sensors prior to installation.

Exhaust Pressure (EP) Sensor and Turbocharger Actuator

NOTICE: Do not use the retaining bolt to draw the turbocharger actuator into the housing or damage to the actuator can occur.

NOTE: The upper intake manifold must be removed to access the turbocharger actuator. For additional information, refer to Engine - 6.7L Diesel Service and Repair.

NOTE: Inspect the turbocharger actuator O-ring seals to make sure they are not twisted or distorted. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installing.

Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Pressure Sensor - Chassis Cab

NOTICE: If the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor bends during installation, do not straighten the sensor. The EGT sensor will be damaged if it is straightened. Discard the sensor and install a new one.

NOTE: If necessary, lubricate the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor with penetrating and lock lubricant to ease removal.

NOTE: Apply anti-seize to the threads of the EGT sensor prior to installation if it is to be reused.

NOTE: Install the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) pressure sensor hose onto the exhaust pressure tube prior to installing the sensor and bolt onto the mounting boss. Make sure you push the hose onto the tube all the way up to the radius of the tube.

Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Pressure Sensor - Pickup

Fuel Pressure Control Valve and Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) Sensor

NOTE: The LH fender splash shield must be removed to access the fuel pressure control valve. For additional information, refer to Front End Body Panels Fender Splash Shield.

NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seal(s) of the fuel pressure control valve and/or the sealing surface of the FRP sensor with clean engine oil prior to installation.

NOTE: Hold the fuel pressure control valve electrical connector in the desired orientation and tighten in 3 stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten to 60 Nm (44 lb-ft)
- Stage 2: Loosen 90 degrees
- Stage 3: Tighten to 85 Nm (63 lb-ft)

Fuel Volume Control Valve, Fuel Temperature Sensor and Fuel Pressure Switch

NOTE: The upper and lower intake manifolds must be removed to access the fuel volume control valve. For additional information, refer to Engine - 6.7L Diesel Service and Repair.

NOTE: Clean the sealing surface of the fuel temperature sensor fitting prior to installation of the fuel temperature sensor.

NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seal(s) with clean engine oil prior to installation.

NOTE: Tighten the fuel volume control valve bolts alternately in 2 stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in)
- Stage 2: Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in)

Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor and Charge Air Cooler Temperature (CACT) Sensor

NOTICE: Do not overtighten the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) bolt or damage to the sensor will occur.

Removal and Installation

NOTICE: Do not use silicone based sprays or lubricants on any components installed onto or around the diesel exhaust system or intake air distribution and filtering system. Silicone reacts with the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) sensor and may cause permanent damage to the NOx sensor.

NOTICE: Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position prior to working on the electronic engine controls or damage to the vehicle may occur.

1. Refer to the procedures and/or exploded views for any Warnings, Notices, Notes, Materials, Specifications, and Special Tools. Items in the exploded views may not be listed in order of removal.
