Removal and Installation

1. NOTICE: Do not use a hammer to separate the outer tie-rod end from the wheel knuckle or damage to the wheel knuckle can result.

NOTICE: Place the steering gear at the center position. Using an appropriate-sized wrench on the flat/teeth of the rack gear to resist rotation and to prevent damage during removal and installation of the inner tie rod.

NOTE: If servicing the RH side inner tie rod, it will be necessary to remove the LH steering gear bellows boot to hold the steering gear. An assistant may be needed to hold the steering gear rack for removal and installation of the RH inner tie rod.

Refer to exploded view(s) and any Warnings, Notices, Notes, Materials, Specifications and Special Tools. Items in the exploded views may not be listed in order of removal.

2. Use the Tie-Rod End Remover to separate the outer tie-rod end from the wheel knuckle.





3. Check and, if necessary, adjust the front toe. For additional information, refer to Suspension System - General Information Toe Adjustment - Front.
