Coolant Bypass Hose









Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding - 2.3L Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

2. Detach the coolant bypass hose from the routing clip.

3. Disconnect the coolant bypass hose from the coolant bypass tube.

Vehicles equipped with a manual transmission

4. Remove the shifter. For additional information, refer to Manual Transaxle/Transmission Service and Repair.

All vehicles

5. Remove the rear driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Driveshaft Removal and Replacement.

6. Remove the exhaust downpipe. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System Exhaust Downpipe.

7. NOTE: Manual transmission shown, automatic transmission similar.

Support transmission with an appropriate transmission jack.





8. Remove the 6 crossmember-to-frame bolts (3 on each side).
- To install, tighten to 99 Nm (73 lb-ft).

9. Detach the transmission electrical connector and wiring harness retainers from the crossmember. Remove the transmission mount nuts and the crossmember.
- To install, tighten to 99 Nm (73 lb-ft).

10. Lower the transmission to access coolant bypass hose.

11. Disconnect the coolant bypass hose from the rear coolant outlet pipe and remove the coolant bypass hose.

12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
