Knock Sensor: Service and Repair




Knock Sensor (KS) - 3.5L Ti-VCT

Exploded View

NOTE: LH (Left Hand) cylinder head is removed for clarity.










Removal

1. Remove the thermostat housing. REFER to Thermostat Housing - 3.5L Ti-VCT .

2. Remove the lower intake manifold. REFER to Lower Intake Manifold .

3. Remove the coolant tube and discard the O-ring seal.

4. Disconnect the KS (Knock Sensor) electrical connector.

5. Remove the 2 bolts and the KS (Knock Sensor).

Installation

1. Install the KS (Knock Sensor) and the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).

2. Connect the KS (Knock Sensor) electrical connector.

3. Install a new O-ring seal on the coolant tube.

4. NOTE: Lubricate the new O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.
Install the coolant tube.

5. Install the lower intake manifold. REFER to Lower Intake Manifold .

6. Install the thermostat housing. REFER to Thermostat Housing - 3.5L Ti-VCT .
