Pinpoint Test AF: DTC U0100:00

Normal Operation

The Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) receives network messages from the PCM via the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN). These messages include the odometer reading and the fuel level. As other modules outside of the audio system also receive these messages, all modules receiving a particular message should exhibit a symptom if the message is missing.

- DTC U0100:00 (Lost Communication With ECM (Engine Control Module) /PCM "A": No Sub Type Information)- sets in continuous memory in the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) if data messages received from the PCM over the HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network) are missing for 5 seconds or longer. For a complete list of all network messages, refer to Information Bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- PCM

- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)

PINPOINT TEST AF : DTC U0100:00

AF1 VERIFY THE SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATES WITH THE PCM

- Connect the scan tool.

- Make sure a vehicle session can be established using the scan tool.

Can a vehicle session be established?

Yes
GO to AF2.
No
REFER to Information Bus to diagnose The PCM Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.

AF2
CHECK THE APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) Self-Test.

- Clear the DTCs.

- Wait 10 seconds.

- Repeat the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.

Is DTC U0100:00 retrieved again?

Yes
GO to AF3.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

AF3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the PCM Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.

Is DTC P0562 or DTC P0563 recorded?

Yes
REFER to Computers and Control Systems.
No
GO to AF4.

AF4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
For DTC U3003:16, GO to Pinpoint Test AJ. Pinpoint Test AJ: DTC U3003:16 Or B1318

For DTC U3003:17, GO to Pinpoint Test AK. Pinpoint Test AK: DTC U3003:17
No
GO to AF5.

AF5 CHECK FOR DTC U0100:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test.

- Retrieve the CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.

Is DTC U0100:00 set in any other modules?

Yes
INSTALL a new PCM. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module). REFER to Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
