Normal Operation

When the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) enters a key programming state, it activates the transceiver to read the key in the ignition. The key is programmed into the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) memory if a valid Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) key is used and there are no concerns with the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System).

- DTC B10D7:05 (PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) Key: System Programming Failure)- a continuous DTC that sets when a PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key is unsuccessfully programmed into the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key

PINPOINT TEST A : DTC B10D7:05

A1 CHECK THE BCM (Body Control Module) DTCs FROM THE SELF-TEST

- Check the recorded results from the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Is DTC B10D5:94, B10D7:81, B10D7:87, or B10D7:94 retrieved?

Yes
REFER to the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) DTC Chart Anti-Theft - Without Intelligent Access (IA). RESOLVE these DTCs first.

No
GO to A2.

A2 CHECK THE PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) KEY

- Verify the correct PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) keys are used with the vehicle. Compare the key with the one shown in Anti-Theft Description and Operation in the Description and Operation portion.

Are the correct keys being used?

Yes
ATTEMPT to program the key again. If key programming fails, DISCARD the damaged key and PROGRAM a new key. REFER to Key Programming - Program a Key Using Two Programmed Keys Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys or Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

No
OBTAIN the correct key(s) for the vehicle. PROGRAM the new key(s). REFER to Key Programming - Program a Key Using Two Programmed Keys Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys or Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
