Pinpoint Test L: DTC U0155

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 118, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation

- DTC U0155 (Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster)- this DTC sets in the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) /Vehicle Security Module (VSM) if the vehicle speed or stoplamp switch messages that should be received from the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) are missing for 10 seconds or longer. If a communications failure is detected by the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module), the DTC U0155 is present in the module.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Network communication concern

- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

- TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module)

PINPOINT TEST L : DTC U0155

L1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to L2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

L2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) Network Test.

- Carry out the network test.

Does the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) pass the network test?

Yes
GO to L3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

L3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module) AND IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TESTS

- Check for recorded TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module) and IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) DTCs from the self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 (or B1318) or DTC U3003:17 (or B1317) recorded?

Yes
For the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module), REFER to DTC Chart Tire Monitoring System.

For the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.

No
GO to L4.

L4 CHECK FOR DTC U0155 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Clear the DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait 10 seconds.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: VSM (Vehicle Security Module) Self-Test.

- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0155:00 or DTC U0155 set in more than one module?

Yes
INSTALL a new IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). TEST the system for normal operation. REPEAT the ABS module self-test.

No
INSTALL a new TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module). REFER to Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Module - 4-Door Sedan Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Module - 4-Door Sedan or Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Module - 5-Door Hatchback Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Module - 5-Door Hatchback.
TEST the system for normal operation.
