Engine Control Module: Service and Repair




Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Removal

1. NOTE: PCM (Powertrain Control Module) installation DOES NOT require new keys or programming of keys, only a Parameter Reset of the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System).
Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the PMI (Programmable Module Installation) procedure. REFER to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) .

2. Remove the LH (Left Hand) inner fender splash shield. REFER to Fender Splash Shield .

3. Remove the 4 PCM (Powertrain Control Module) cover bolts.

4. Disconnect the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) electrical connector.

5. Remove the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

Installation

1. Install the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

2. Connect the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) electrical connector.

3. Install the cover and 4 bolts.
- Tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).

4. Install the LH (Left Hand) inner fender splash shield. REFER to Fender Splash Shield .

5. Restore the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration restore steps of the PMI (Programmable Module Installation) procedure. REFER to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) .

6. Reprogram the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System). Carry out the Parameter Reset procedure. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset Programming and Relearning.
