Removal

REMOVAL




1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the shift cable heat shield screws (1) and heat shield.




3. Detach shift cable (1) at transmission.
a. Remove the shift cable from the ball knob.
b. Unclip shift cable retainer from retainer bracket. When pulling out cable, press together hooks of shift cable retainer at the points shown (arrows).




4. Remove top of the center section of instrument panel.
5. Remove bottom of the center section of instrument panel.
6. Remove the shift lever assembly mounting bolts (1).




7. Remove shift cable retaining clip (1).
8. Pry ball socket of transmission shift cable (2) off ball knob at the shift lever assembly (SLA).




9. Remove the shift cable grommet from the floor panel.
10. Remove the shift cable from the vehicle.
