The following is a preliminary test for the functionality of the rain/light sensor. Additional testing requires the use of a diagnostic scan tool. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.

RAIN SENSOR FUNCTION TEST

1. With the ignition in the ON position, rotate the control knob of the multi-function switch to the I (Automatic) position.

2. Wet the windshield glass in the vicinity of the rain/light sensor with a little water. Within a few seconds, the windshield wipers must begin to operate.

3. If the windshield wipers fail to operate with the windshield wet in the vicinity of the rain/light sensor, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform additional testing. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.

LIGHT SENSOR FUNCTION TEST

1. With the ignition in the ON position, rotate the control knob of the headlamp switch to the AUTO (Automatic) position.

2. Cover the windshield in the vicinity of the rain/light sensor with an opaque material. Within a few seconds, the exterior lighting must illuminate.
