Inspecting Reaction Carrier Assembly

1. Inspect reaction carrier assembly for pinion gear damage, excessive pinion washer wear and cracks or damage to band apply surface. Reaction carrier pinion gear endplay should be 0.009-0.024 inch.

2. Inspect roller clutch assembly for damage to rollers, springs or cage.

3. Inspect sun gear and sun gear shaft for nicked scored or worn bushings,
damaged splines or teeth and cracks. If busings need replacement, proceed as follows:

a. Support sun gear shaft and, using tools J-21465-15 and J-2619 or equivalents, remove bushing(s).

b. Using tools J-21465-5 and J-8092, or equivalents, press on replacement bushing until tool bottoms.
