Timing Cover: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On models equipped with power steering, remove power steering pump fan shroud.
3. On all models, remove upper fan shroud, then the fan and pulley.
4. Loosen drive belts, then remove alternator, alternator brackets, brace and front bracket.
5. Remove crankshaft pulley, then the hub bolt and hub.
6. Disconnect lower radiator hose clamp at water pump.
7. Remove front cover attaching bolts and the front cover.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply a continuous bead of RTV sealant on cover prior to installation.
b. Install front cover with centering tool No. J-34995 positioned in seal, Fig. 7.
