Electro Hydraulic Control Unit


The EHCU module is not serviceable. The module should be replaced when the diagnosis charts shows the module to be malfunctioning. Before replacing the EHCU module, bleed down the brake booster by depressing the brake pedal several times.

Remove or Disconnect:

1. Washer tank reservoir bolts.
^ Set washer tank reservoir out of the way.
2. Ten prong electrical connector from the EHCU module.
3. Two prong electrical connector from the EHCU module.
4. Eight prong electrical connector from the EHCU module.
5. Brake lines from EHCU module.

NOTICE: Take care not to get brake fluid on paint or electrical connections.

6. Bolts connecting upper bracket assembly to the lower bracket assembly.
7. EHCU module and upper bracket assembly from the vehicle.
8. Six bolts.
9. Mounting bracket from the EHCU module.


Install or Connect:

1. Mounting bracket to the EHCU module.
2. Six bolts holding the EHCU module to the mounting bracket.
3. Tighten six bolts to 9 N-m (84 in. lbs.). Over tightening these bolts could result in excessive noise transfer from the EHCU module.
4. Turn the modulator bleed valves 1/4 to 1/2 turn counter clockwise.
5. EHCU module and bracket assembly into the vehicle.
6. Tighten bolts to 27 N-m (20 ft. lbs.).
7. Two prong electrical connector on the EHCU module.
8. Eight prong electrical connector on the EHCU module.
9. Ten prong electrical connector on the EHCU module.
10. Brake lines to the EHCU module in the same port locations as removal.
11. Tighten brake line fittings to 25 N-m (16 ft. lbs.).
12. Bleed the EHCU module before each of the wheels.
