Shift Lever

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove console, then the shift boot.
3. Loosen shift lever jam nut, then unscrew shift lever.
4. Remove transfer case selector switch.
5. Raise and support vehicle.
6. Disconnect shift rod at shifter assembly, then remove pivot and adjusting bolt, Fig. 1.
7. Remove shifter.

INSTALLATION
1. Position shifter at bracket, then install pivot and adjusting bolt, Fig. 1.
2. Connect shift rod, then adjust shift linkage.
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Install shift lever on shifter, then screw lever down until pawl just clears bracket, then tighten shift lever an additional 1-1/2 turns and tighten jam nut.
5. Install selector switch, shift boot and console.
6. Install battery ground cable.
