Starter Motor Replacement

Gas Engine Starter Motor And Heat Shield:

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the starter brackets, it equipped.
3. Remove the starter shields, if equipped.
4. Disconnect the starter solenoid wires.
5. Raise the vehicle.
6. Remove the starter mounting bolts and washers, it equipped.
7. Remove the starter from the engine.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Connect the starter mounting bolts and washers, if equipped, through the starter to the engine.

Tighten
Tighten the starter mounting through bolts to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).

2. Lower the vehicle.
3. Connect the starter wires to the solenoid terminals.
4. Install the starter brackets, if equipped.
5. Install the starter shields, if equipped.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
