THIS SERVICE UPDATE INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALER/RETAILER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN FOR ANY TYPE OF SERVICE, AND WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.
Purpose
This bulletin provides a service procedure to replace the windshield washer solvent heater on certain 2007 GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook vehicles equipped with the heated windshield wiper fluid feature. On some of these vehicles, the module within the system may drain the battery.
This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer/retailer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer/retailer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.
Vehicles Involved
A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer/retailer inventory is available on the "Service Update Bulletin Information" link under the "Service" tab in DealerWorld (GM and Saturn US) or attached to the Dealer Communication (Canada) used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicle's base warranty, and are within the VIN breakpoints provided, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system listed.
Dealers/retailers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the system(s) below. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.
- GM dealers and Canadian Saturn Saab retailers should use GMVIS.
- US Saturn retailers should use the AS/400 system.
Parts Information - GM and Saturn Canada Only
Parts required to complete this service update are to be obtained from General Motors Service and Parts Operations (GMSPO). Please refer to your "involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.
Parts Information - Saturn US Only
SSPO will pre-ship initial quantities of parts to affected retailers as they become available. Please place orders for additional parts as necessary.
Service Procedure
Open the hood.
Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in SI.
Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement in SI.
Remove the heated windshield washer module (1).
Remove the heated windshield washer module fasteners.
Remove the hose from the heated windshield module.
Remove the two heated windshield module connectors (1).
Install the new heated windshield washer module.
Connect the two windshield washer module connectors (1).
Install the windshield washer hose.
Install two heated windshield washer module fasteners.
Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement in SI.
Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in SI.
Close the hood.
