Forward Sensor

The forward sensor is mechanically actuated and responds to a drop in vehicle speed. This sensor has a normally open switch, and distinguishes between deployment and non-deployment situations by means of a preset calibration which allows the sensor to close only with sufficient impact force. If an accident occurs, the contacts of the forward sensor close, completing an electrical circuit. If the contacts of the forward sensor close simultaneously with the contacts of the arming sensor, deployment occurs.
