1. Place transmission in neutral or park, set parking brake and block wheels.
2. Disconnect fuel pump relay electrical connector, Fig. 3.
3. Remove fuel filler cap to release fuel tank pressure. Replace cap when pressure is released.
4. Start engine and allow to run out of fuel.
5. Crank engine three times for about three seconds to displace any remaining fuel pressure in the system.
6. Upon completion of servicing, connect fuel pump relay electrical connector.
