Alternator: Adjustments

Adjustment Of Alternator Belt.:







1. Apply a force of 98 N (10 kg, 22 lb) and measure the deflection between the alternator and the water pump pulley

Deflection on Carbureted engine:
- 6-9 mm (0.24-0.35 in.)
- 5 mm (0.20 in.) when first measured after replacing a brand new belt.

Deflection on Fuel-Injected engine:
- 3-6 mm (0.12-0.24 in.)
- 3 mm (0.12 in.) when first measured after replacing a brand new belt.

2. Loosen the alternator adjusting bolt and nut.


3. Move the alternator to obtain the proper belt tension and retighten the bolt and nut.


4. Recheck the deflection of the belt.
