Expansion Valve: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Slowly and carefully discharge refrigerant from A/C system.
3. Mark, then disconnect and cap receiver and suction lines from evaporator assembly.
4. Remove grommets from receiver and suction line fittings, Fig. 15.
5. Remove glove compartment or passenger tray assembly, if equipped.
6. On Hatchback and Sedan models, remove glove compartment frame assembly.
7. Disconnect electrical connector from thermostat housing.
8. Loosen sealing band screw, then slide band to the left.
9. Remove blower motor attaching bolts, then the blower motor assembly.
10. Remove evaporator core attaching bolts, then the evaporator core assembly.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
