Engine Control Module: Testing and Inspection

ECU Test Harness Hook-up:





If the test for a failure code requires the ECU test harness, remove the right door sill molding, the small cover on the right kick panel, and pull the carpet back to expose the ECU. Unbolt the control unit bracket. Remove the control unit from the bracket. Connect the ECU test harness.
Then check the system according to the procedure described for the appropriate test being run. The purpose of the Test Harness is to eliminate the need of back-probing the ECU harness. If the Test Harness is not available, CAREFUL back-probing of the ECU harness will have to be done for any given test procedure.
