Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair


Brake System Bleeding Sequence:






CAUTION: Do not mix different brands of brake fluid as they may not be compatible. Use only DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid.

NOTE: Master cylinder reservoir must be full when starting bleeding procedure and checked after bleeding each wheel.

1. Have an assistant slowly pump brake pedal several times, then hold steady pressure.

2. Loosen brake bleed screw to allow air to escape from system, then tighten bleed screw securely.
3. Repeat procedure for each wheel in sequence shown in Fig. 3. until air bubbles no longer appear in fluid.
4. Check brake performance by road testing vehicle.
