Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

The Air Intake Temperature (TA) Sensor, located on the air cleaner housing, is a temperature sensitive resistor (thermistor). The resistance of the thermistor decreases as the intake air temperature increases. This signal is used by the ECU to determine the intake air density (oxygen content), and is used in the fuel mixture calculations.
