Removal/Installation - Hitachi

Primary Lead:

DISTRIBUTOR ASSEMBLY

1. Disconnect the radio noise condenser and the ignition coil primary lead.

2. Disconnect the secondary wires, and vacuum hoses from the distributor.

Distributor Hold Down:

3. Remove distributor hold down bolt and remove distributor from cylinder head.

NOTE: Coat a new O ring with engine oil prior to installing the distributor

Distributor Lugs And Grooves:

4. Install distributor in cylinder head.

NOTE: The possibility of installing the distributor 180° out of time is eliminated by offset lugs on the end of the distributor shaft

5. Connect the radio noise condenser and the primary coil wire.

Hitachi Disributor Cap:

6. Connect the secondary wires.

7. Adjust ignition timing. Refer to ignition timing in ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES section.
Torque: 16 ft lb (22 Nm)

8. Torque distributor hold down bolt.
