Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

TDC/CRANK Sensor:

The TDC/CRANK Sensor, located inside the distributor housing, determines timing for fuel injection and ignition of each cylinder and also detects engine RPM. The TDC sensor determines ignition timing at start-up (cranking) and when crank angle signal is abnormal.

The TDC/CRANK Sensor consists of the crank rotor, TDC rotor, their associated pick-up coils, and the distributor shaft.

Fig. 32 CYL Sensor:

The CYL sensor, located at the back end of the exhaust camshaft, detects the position of number 1 cylinder for use in the timing of the sequential fuel injection to each cylinder.
