Cam Chain Removal

Removal

Special Tools Required
^ Holder handle 07JAB-001020A
^ Holder attachment, HEX 50 mm offset 07MAB-PY3010A
^ Socket, 17 mm 07JAA-001010A or a commercially available 17 mm socket

Engine removal is required before removing the timing chain.

NOTE:
^ To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
^ Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring or hoses, or interfere with other parts.

1. Remove the engine.
2. Remove the cylinder head.





3. Remove the idler pulley bracket mounting bolt.
4. Remove the water pump.





5. Hold the pulley with holder handle (A) and holder attachment (B).
6. Remove the bolt with a heavy-duty 17 mm socket (C) and breaker bar.





7. Remove the engine oil cooler bypass hoses.





8. Remove the oil pan.





9. Remove the oil screen, then remove the oil pump assembly.
10. Remove the cam chain.
