Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

How to Remove the ECM/PCM For Testing

How to Remove and Install the ECM
If the inspection for a trouble code requires voltage or resistance checks at the ECM connectors, remove the ECM and test it:

1. Pull the passenger's side carpet back to expose the ECM (A).
2. Unbolt the ECM cover (B).
3. Lift the lower edge of the ECM cover off of the lower studs. Make sure the ECM is not touching the studs.
4. Lift the upper edge of the ECM cover enough to clear the upper studs, then pull the cover down away from the evaporator drain tube.
5. Unbolt the ECM (A) from the cover.
6. Disconnect the ECM connectors.
7. Install the ECM in the reverse order of removal.
