TITLE:
Changing or Removing a Navigation System PIN

APPLIES TO:
2003 Accord, 2000-03 Odysseys, 2003 Pilots

SERVICE TIP:
Honda's navigation systems let up to two users have a personal address book. Each user has the option of protecting his or her personal addresses from prying eyes by requiring the entry of a four digit personal identification number (PIN) to access them. The bad news is, if either user forgets the PIN, he or she is locked out of his or her personal address book. And the only way to get back in is to visit a Honda dealership and have a new PIN entered, or have the old PIN removed entirely so then anyone has access. Use this procedure to change or remove a navigation system PIN for your customer:

1. Get the navigation system anti-theft security code.

If the navigation system anti-theft card that came with the navigation system is available, read the four-digit code printed on the card.

If the navigation system anti-theft card is lost, or the PIN doesn't work because the navigation system control unit was replaced, you'll need to read the serial number from the underside of the navigation system control unit that's mounted in the trunk (2003 Accords) or under the front passenger's seat (2000-03 Odysseys and 2003 Pilots).

NOTE: Navigation systems with voice recognition can display the serial number on-screen when in the diagnostic mode. Refer to the appropriate S/M for more info.

Use the serial number to get the anti-theft security code from the Interactive Network (iN). Refer to S/B 99-070, Odyssey and Pilot: PDI of the Navigation System, and S/B 02-064, PDI of the Voice Recognition DVD Navigation System, for additional serial number information. If you have any trouble getting the anti-theft codes from the iN, call the Warranty department.

2. Change or remove the navigation system PIN.

If the navigation system has voice recognition, do this:

- Press the SET UP button.

- From the Set-up Screen, select 2 at the top right of the screen.

- Select PIN Number from the Edit Personal Information group.

- Select Personal Address PIN.

- Select User 1 or User 2, depending on which PIN you need to reset.

- When prompted to enter the PIN, enter the navigation system anti-theft code.

- When prompted to enter the new PIN, either enter the four digits of your customer's new PIN, or select Do not use PIN (if your customer doesn't want one).

If the navigation system doesn't have voice recognition, do this:

- Touch the Setup icon.

- From the Set-up Screen, select Others, then Personal PIN.

- Select User 1 or User 2, depending on which PIN you need to reset.

- When prompted to enter the PIN, enter the navigation system anti-theft code.

- When prompted to enter the new PIN, either enter the four digits of your customer's new PIN, or leave the field blank, and select Done (if your customer doesn't want a PIN).
