Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

How to Reset the MCM
You can reset the MCM in either of two ways.

Reset the MCM with the HDS
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). Do not start the engine.
2. Use the HDS to clear the DTC.

NOTE: For specific operations, refer to the user's manual that came with the HDS.

Reset the MCM by removing the fuse
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Remove the No. 9 BACK UP (10 A) fuse (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box (B) for 60 seconds.

NOTE: This will cause the IMA battery level indicator to read 0 bars.

How to End a Troubleshooting Session (required after any troubleshooting)
1. Reset the MCM as described above.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. Disconnect the HDS from the DLC.
4. Start the engine, and hold it at about 4,000 rpm without load (in Park or neutral) until the IMA Battery level indicator (BAT) on the gauge reads full.
5. Do the ECM idle learn procedure.
