Tire Monitor - Control Unit Won't Memorize Sensor ID's

SOURCE: Honda Service News

TITLE: TPMS Control Unit Won't Memorize Sensor ID's

APPLIES TO: 05 Odyssey
05 Pilot

SERVICE TIP:

Using the HDS to teach the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) control unit the tire pressure sensor ID's can be a real pain at times. It's not uncommon that the control unit fails to memorize one or more of the sensor ID's during the learning process, causing TPMS DTC(s) to set. If this happens, the HDS tells you to raise the vehicle and begin a rather time-consuming process to make things right.

Fortunately, there's an easier way to handle this. First, clear the DTC(s) with the HDS. Then, with help from someone in your shop, start the learning process while driving the vehicle under 10 mph. The TPMS control unit should learn all four sensor ID's. If all four sensors ID's are learned, you're done. If one or more of the sensor ID's aren't learned, then press on with normal troubleshooting.
