Crossmember Replacement (Lower Control Arm)

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair .
2. Remove the underbody shields. Refer toCatalytic Converter Guard Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Support the front differential.




4. Remove the differential mounting nut, bolt, and washer . Refer toDifferential Carrier Assembly Replacement .




5. Remove the crossmember mounting bolts.
6. Remove the crossmember from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the crossmember to the vehicle.
2. Perform the following procedure before installing the bolts.

* Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
* Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
* Apply Threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488).


Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Service Precautions .

3. Install the bolts and the nuts.

Tighten the nuts to 90 Nm (66 lb ft).

4. Remove the differential support.




5. Install the differential mounting nut, bolt, and washer. Refer toDifferential Carrier Assembly Replacement .
6. Install the underbody shields. Refer toCatalytic Converter Guard Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Lower the vehicle.
