Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE Contact with a rust penetrant such as WD-40 will render an Oxygen Sensor inoperative. If a rust penetrant is used to remove, or contact prior to installation is made with the oxygen sensor, discard the sensor.

Oxygen Sensor Location:





To replace the Oxygen Sensor, proceed as follows:

Removal:
1. Disconnect the harness terminal.
2. Remove the sensor with a suitable socket or wrench.

Installation:

3. Apply a thin coating of anti-seize compound to the threads.
NOTE: Do Not contaminate the sensor tip with compound.
4. Install the sensor and torque to 29-36 ft.lb.
5. Apply a thin coating of dielectric compound to the connector.
6. Connect harness terminal.
