Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Fuel Pump Relay

NOTE: Problems other than a faulty fuel pump relay can cause fuel system problems. For complete information on fuel system diagnosis and testing, refer to FUEL SYSTEMS.

1. With ignition switch "OFF," connect positive voltmeter lead to ECM terminal M1-14 (red/green wire) and negative lead to ground.
2. Turn ignition "ON." Meter should read near battery voltage for approximately two seconds and then return to zero. Start engine; meter should read constant battery voltage.
3. If problems are indicated, check circuits and test relay separately as described in step 4 below.
4. With relay unplugged and removed from vehicle if necessary, connect an ohmmeter across terminals "2" and "4." Meter should indicate an open circuit. Energize relay by connecting battery voltage across terminals "1" and "3." Meter should indicate continuity.
