Clutch: Service and Repair

Removal

1. Remove transmission as outlined elsewhere in this section.
2. Mark relationship of clutch assembly to flywheel to facilitate installation.
3. Install alignment tool, then remove six retaining bolts.
4. Remove release bearing to yoke retaining springs, then the release bearing with support.
5. Remove release yoke from transmission ball stud.

Installation

1. Apply a suitable lubricant to ball stud, then install release yoke.
2. Apply a suitable lubricant to support, then assemble release bearing and support to release yoke with retaining springs.
3. Install clutch assembly in original position using alignment tool, then insert attaching bolts and torque to 14 ft. lbs.
4. Install transmission.
