Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Measurement of Input Voltage
1. Ignition switch is in "ON" position.
2. Measure the voltage between (+) terminal of coil and ground. The approximate value should be 12 volts.

Ignition coil resistance measurement
Check Ignition coil with ohmmeter for opens and grounds.

1. Use high scale

Standard: Infinite Ohms

If not as specified, replace the ignition coil.

2. Use low scale

Standard: Very low or zero Ohms

If not as specified, replace the ignition coil.

3. Use high scale

Standard: Infinite Ohms

If not as specified, replace the ignition coil.
