ZF 6-Speed Transmission Incorrectly Manufactured - Recall Action R525

Issue:

It is possible that on a limited number of 2006 MY S-TYPE and XJ range vehicles, within the above VIN ranges, the parking pawl guide plate in the transmission may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, Park may not engage when the gear selector lever is moved to the "P" Park position, although all indicators will show that the Park position is achieved. If the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle may roll away if the ignition key remains in the ignition.

Jaguar has decided to recall all affected vehicles to replace the parking pawl guide plate.

Note:
A listing of the affected vehicles are shown. Only those vehicles listed are affected by this Recall Action.

Action:

After checking the DDW, replace the parking pawl guide plate on any vehicle listed in this bulletin that has not already had this recall performed.

Please ensure that all outstanding Field Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.

Note:
Federal law requires dealers to complete any outstanding safety recall service before a new vehicle is delivered to the buyer or lessee. Violation of this requirement by a dealer could result in a civil penalty of up to $5,000 per vehicle. Correct all vehicles in your new vehicle inventory before delivery. The use of a vehicle as a demonstrator or loaner vehicle prior to completing this recall may be considered a violation of federal law.
