Coolant Temperature Sensor, Hydraulic

INSPECTION
1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVERS
2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
3. REMOVE ECT SENSOR
a. Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.





b. Remove the ECT sensor from the radiator.
c. Remove the O-ring from the ECT sensor.





4. INSPECT ECT SENSOR
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Resistance: 1.48 - 1.58k Ohms at 80°C (176°F)
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.
5. REINSTALL ECT SENSOR
a. Install a new O-ring to the ECT sensor.
b. Apply soapy water to the new O-ring.
c. Install the ECT sensor to the radiator.
Torque: 7.4 Nm (75 kgf-cm, 65 inch lbs.)
d. Connect the ECT sensor connector.
6. REFILL WITH ENGINE COOLANT
7. START ENGINE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS
8. RECHECK ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL
9. REINSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVERS
