Checking Fluid Level

TRANSFER OIL
ADJUSTMENT





1. INSPECT TRANSFER OIL
a. Remove the transfer case No.1 plug and gasket No.1.
b. Check that the oil level is 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.20 inch) below the lower side of the transfer case No.1 plug hole.

NOTICE:
^ When changing oil, recheck the oil level after driving.
^ Excessively large or small amounts of oil may cause some trouble.

c. When the oil level is too low, check for oil leakage.
d. Tighten the transfer case No.1 plug with a new gasket No.1.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
2. ADD TRANSFER OIL
a. Remove the transfer case No.1 plug and gasket No.1 and add the oil.

NOTICE:
^ When checking oil, make sure the vehicle is level.
^ When adding oil, pour it slowly.
^ Add oil several times in interval.

HINT: Within 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.20 inch) below the lower side of the transfer case No.1 plug hole.

b. After leaving it alone for 5 minutes, recheck the oil level.
c. Tighten the transfer case No. 1 plug with a new gasket No.1.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
