ECM:






REPLACEMENT

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER

NOTE:
- Wipe water from the ECM cover and edges.
- Replacement of the ECM should be performed indoors, away from rain.
- Keep the inside of the ECM and its connectors/screws away from water.

a. Remove the 3 bolts and ECM cover.

3. REMOVE ECM

a. Disconnect the 5 ECM connectors.
b. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM.

4. INSTALL ECM

NOTE:
- After replacing the ECM, initialize it
- Check that no foreign objects are stuck inside the ECM box.

a. Connect the connector and install the ECM with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)

5. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER

a. Install the ECM cover with the 3 bolts.

6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
