Timing Component Alignment Marks: Locations
CAUTION: Make sure the crankshaft and the camshafts are positioned correctly to prevent piston crown and valve damage.CAUTION: Timing chain procedures must be followed exactly or damage to valves and pistons will result.
Position the crankshaft and the camshafts as shown.
Install the timing chain and crankshaft sprocket. Make sure that the timing mark is facing front (out).
Check that the copper links on the timing chain is lined up with the corresponding dots on the timing chain gears.
Check that the keyway on the camshaft sprockets are 90 degrees from the camshaft cover surface.
