EGR Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection



82-83 CALIF. & 84 ALL

1. Disconnect vacuum hose between EGR solenoid valve and water thermo valve at solenoid valve, and connect suitable piece of vacuum hose to valve.
2. Disconnect vacuum hose between EGR solenoid valve and vacuum amplifier at solenoid valve.
3. Disconnect electrical connector of EGR solenoid valve.
4. Blow air into vacuum hose connected to solenoid valve and ensure air flows from open port
5. Apply battery voltage to terminals of EGR solenoid valve.
6. Blow air into vacuum hose connected to EGR solenoid valve and ensure air flows from air filter of valve.
7. Connect hoses and electrical connector to proper locations.
8. If test results are unsatisfactory, replace EGR solenoid valve.
