Control Arm: Service and Repair


1. Raise and support front of vehicle.
2. Remove front wheels.
3. Remove bolts and knuckle arm from steering knuckle.
4. Using tool No. 490118850C or equivalent, disconnect tie rod from steering knuckle.
5. Remove bolts and disconnect stabilizer bar and tension rod.
6. Using tool No. 490727575 or equivalent, disconnect knuckle arm from suspension arm.
7. Remove bolts and suspension arm from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Torque the following to specified limits:
a. Ball joint to knuckle arm, 43-51 ft.lbs. (6.0-7.0 mkg).
b. Suspension arm to crossmember, 29-40 ft.lbs. (4.0-5.5 mkg).
c. Tension rod to suspension arm, 40 ft.lbs. (5.5-6.9 mkg).
d. Knuckle arm to shock absorber, 43-51 ft.lbs. (6.0-7.0 mkg).
