DESCRIPTION A new flywheel turning tool has been established for the repair of 1986-87 RX-7 vehicles with seized engines due to carbon trap. This tool is a modification of the previous flywheel turning tool, 49FA 42 065, to make it useable on all RX-7 vehicles. (See Service Bulletin 103/83, Category 1 for additional information on carbon trap and tool useage).

Install the flywheel turning tool in the starter location (except for 1979-85 RX-7 A/T) and turn in the direction shown to dislodge carbon trapped between the apex seal and rotor housing. Adjust the tool to the "A" or "B" position as follows:

1979-85 RX-7 M/T: "B" position
1979-85 RX-7 A/T: See S/B 103/83, Category 1
1986-87 RX-7 M/T (except Turbo): "B" position
1986-87 RX-7 A/T and Turbo: "A" position



If you already have the previous flywheel turning tool, 49FA 42 065, you may order only the new body, 49F0 11 102. The old gear, 49F0 11 103 can be installed on the new body.
NOTE:
Rotate the flywheel turning tool in the reverse direction of engine rotation as shown.
