Fast Idle

Fig. 1 Fast idle adjusting screw:

1. Start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature.
2. Stop engine, remove air cleaner, then connect suitable tachometer.
3. Disconnect and plug vacuum hoses from idle compensator, thermo-sensor and reed valves, if applicable.
4. While holding throttle valve slightly open, close choke valve, then release throttle valve.
5. Start engine without touching accelerator pedal and note engine speed.
6. If fast idle speed is not within specifications, turn fast idle adjusting screw, Fig. 1, as required.
